"Graffiti boards encourage tagging" claim Reading's graffiti busters

Graffiti boards in Reading's Woodford Park are encouraging tagging, not heping to reduce it, according to Reading's Crime and Disorder Partnership.

The writing is on the wall for Woodley when it comes to graffiti – but some people think it should not be.

Two of Reading’s top graffiti busters, Steve Waite, Reading’s lead councillor for environment and consumer affairs, and Dave Bowler, anti-social behaviour coordinator for Reading Crime and Disorder Partnership, have deemed Woodley’s two graffiti boards – where youngsters can legally spray paint – useless.

Cllr Waite even went as far as to suggest the boards, located in Woodford Park off Headley Road, were counter-productive and encouraged tagging.
