York's Monks Cross launches retail business crime initiative

Ten years after the creation of Retailers Against Crime in York, neighbouring Monks Cross Shopping Centre is to have its own retail crime reduction partnership.

Pictures of shoplifters and other undesirables will be exchanged between retailers in a bid to reduce the cost of crime to members of the group, titled Monks Cross Against Retail Crime (MARC).

The shopping park, North Yorkshire Police and the Huntington and New Earswick Safer Neighbourhood Team will join forces to form MARC which will also target local burglary, car crime, robbery, and assault or threats made to staff and shoppers at the outlet.
