West Yorks police to increase use of 'Trojan' buses

After Leeds' Trojan Bus notched up its first successes, police have announced that they will increase the use of this technique to reduce vandalism.

Three youths were captured after they attacked the Trojan bus which carries police officers as covert passengers and is followed by a separate secret police vehicle.

The strategy was initiated in the Belle Isle and Middleton areas of Leeds after a marked increase in damage to buses in transit was recorded, part of a similar pattern repeated through out Leeds.

The Trojan Bus  is equippped with hidden CCTV cameras with 360-degree viewing circles along the outside of the vehicle to record any criminal activity while it is in motion.

Now the joint operation between First Bus and West Yorkshire Police is to be repeated regularly.
