Drugs in teenagers' rooms - an America solution

Ex-police sniffer dogs have found a new lease of life - American parents are using them to search their childrens' rooms for drugs.

American parents can rent a dog and handler for £125 an hour from Sniff Dogs, a firm operating in New Jersey and Ohio, to check out their home for marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin.

The firm's five Labrador sniffer dogs can detect illegal drugs or their residue on clothes or surfaces even days later, and sniff out marijuana from up to 15 feet away. When they have detected drugs the dogs are trained to sit, leaving the final inspection to the parents.

The company was founded by a mother of two sons, who was surprised to find out her oldest son used marijuana after he was caught driving under the influence.
