Sherwood, Notts, traders urged to create ShopWatch scheme
Traders in Sherwood, near Nottingham, are being invited to join a radio scheme to stamp out crime and anti-social behaviour.
In a joint initiative, Notts Police and the city's Crime and Drugs Partnership are asking businesses to get involved. The scheme will allow shopkeepers to communicate with each other and the police via two-way radios if they spot potential problems. Mike Douglas, of Sherwood and Mapperley Neighbourhood Watch, has welcomed the idea. He said: "This is definitely something we would support. It's a fantastic initiative. It is something we would be interested in signing up to. The more traders are able to warn one another of potential problems in the area, the better it will be for everyone. Hopefully, it will not only help to reduce crime but also prevent it from happening in the first place." For the rest of this item from This is Nottingham, cliuck here
