MP accuses NHS Trust of failing knife-crime victims

An MP has blasted the bosses that run the Infirmary for ‘failing’ victims of knife crime.

Paul Rowen hit out at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust for failing to collect and share data anonymously with the police, which could help to reduce violent assaults.

The ‘Cardiff model’ pioneered by accident and emergency staff in the Welsh capital has helped slash knife-related admissions by 40 per cent. The method sees hospital staff collecting data from accident and emergency wards about the precise locations and times of violent incidents and sharing them anonymously with police.
