Social Landlords 2009 Awards announced
The Social Landlords Crime and Nuisance Group’s (SLCNG) 2009 Awards have been launched today. The Awards are to be given to people on the front-line who have made a difference to their community in tackling anti-social behaviour.
The awards aim to recognise improvements made within communities when anti-social behaviour is being tackled successfully, and to help dispel many of what SLCNG describes as 'the negative myths that are around in the media and elsewhere' . There are three Awards: - The Tim Winter award for exceptional performance by an employee of a SLCNG member organisation in tackling anti-social behaviour and making a real and sustained difference to an individual or a community.
- The residents award for outstanding achievement by an individual resident or a group of residents in combatting anti-social behaviour.
- The group award for exemplary practice by a group or a team in dealing in resolving ASB incidents or issues in a specific neighbourhood and delivering measurable results.
The Social Landlords Crime & Nuisance Group was set up in 1995 to tackle anti-social behaviour and has been involved in lobbying for the extra powers that social landlords have needed to help address anti-social behaviour and spread good practice among social landlords. Its membership - comprising 300 local authorities, registered social landlords, Arms Length Management Organisations, Community Safety Teams, Tenant Management Organisations, Tenants Associations and specialist multi-disciplinsry teams - account for more than 3 million tenancies. Competition entries are to be judged by an Awards Panel based on the information provided in each of the nominations received. Winners will be announced and awards presented on 7 October 2009 at the SLCNG Annual Conference in Telford. More information on the 2009 Awards can be found on the SLCNG website www.slcng.org.uk or from Nick@slcng.org.uk
