British invention solves uPVC safety chain problem
A British company has solved a small - but important - problem encountered when attaching safety chains to uPVC door. Now the product is being bought by a growing number of Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnerships.
Launched earlier this year, the door lock solves the problem of attaching convetnional door chains to uPVC doors. Conventional door chains cannot be used on UPVC doors because screws do not fix securely into the material, and in using screws any warranty covering the door is likely to be voided.. Invented by Coad and developed by Acemore, a company that specialises in bringing inventions to market, the new door chain can be securely retro-fitted to uPVC doors in a matter of seconds. Instead of screws, the door-mounting uses a high-tensile steel flange which hooks round a suitable profile on the door. The new attachment does not void the warranty of the door itself. Launched earlier this year the door chain has already be purchased by a number of CDRPs including Bishop Aukland, Solihull and Castlepoint.
